Well, Equestria Girls was to sell a whole new line of toys. I doubt the MLP movie is going to have as much product to push as the series itself, or the spinoff.

Very reasonable. And yet Hasbro gave the greenlight to two maybe three Equestria Girls movies and an Equestria Girls spinoff series before an actual pony movie.

I also hope for Warner Bros, but the most likely is Paramount, with their highly detailed and really nice logo(I’m a fan of logos, and I think the logo is a part of the movie), but I think the sunset on the Paramount logo is too much(I would have used the sky from the 2002 logo and the stars in bronze)

I hope in the US markets it will be distributed by Columbia and in international markets by Touchstone.

Some friends and I were discussing this. We suspect that the budget for seasons 1-3 were already pretty much negotiated before S1 even aired. (They green-lit each season year-by-year, I’m guessing. Ratings and all.)
 
Equestria Girls was probably in the works before bronies were even a thing. We were probably just a new, small, curious side demographic at the time.
 
I think there was an expectation in the beginning that the new My Little Pony would do moderately well at best, and could be a flop at worst. It was unproven. Because an actual movie takes so long to make, I don’t think Hasbro wanted to put tons of money into the re-imagining of MLP. The reason we’re hearing about it just now, I’ll bet, is that pony has proven to be a revenue powerhouse. A movie at this point is almost certainly going to be at least a decent return on investment.
 
(I’m also not expecting a budget anywhere near the Transformers movies. I think they’re still seeing how much this might catch.)
 
I have no idea how close I am to reality. This is what I suspect, though. :)

A writer from that horrible Ice Age sequel? I am sooo very excited.

It looks like it’s an actual FIM movie. I’m cautiously optimistic.
 
I really hope it’s something we can all get excited about when 2017 rolls around.

I’m pretty sure Equestria Girls 3 will come out in the interim. I’m also pretty sure the fandom will panic and freak out, again, even though EQG3 will probably come out in 2015/16. :P

This one sounds like it’s going to be a legit major theatrical release, as opposed to a direct-to-video-plus-limited-theater-run movie like the previous two EG movies were. It’s being produced through Hasbro’s new Allspark Pictures, which is also behind the new Jem movie in the works.
