@mathprofbrony
I was wondering what those could be.
I ended up thinking they’re the sign of a past battle, that Celestia didn’t want to cover to have a reminder of the past.
@Scrounge
Actually, I think the table is set for two, given that an empty cup is on the table, and she’s drinking from another. But then again, there’s only one plate for serving the cake, so make of that what you will. I like to think that she only needs one small plate, because that’s for the guest, and she’s going to pig out on the rest of the cake by herself. :P
@Scrounge
Cryptic hint: Where would you normally look to find Rainbow Dash, if you were actually in Ponyville?
More obvious hint: Look up.
Dead giveaway: You can see her rainbow tail in the painting on the ceiling.
@wrabbit
Even the walls themselves aren’t a flat color, though I can’t tell if it’s a pattern.
It’s possible she didn’t leave the cake for anyone, and simply hasn’t started on it yet. The table seems set for one, and given the title of the piece I somehow doubt she expects company in the near future.
@BigMax @Scrounge
I just noticed the wall decorations next to the wall sconces. It’s Celestia raising the sun! The detail here is truly mind boggling. I’m still left wondering for whom she left that slice of cake…
@Scrounge
Not only the couch has buttons.
But the couch Twilight is sitting on, on that painting on the wall, also has buttons!
And have you seen the bouquet on the vase?
What about the carpet?!
The amount of details of this drawing is almost insane…
@wrabbit
Honestly, this picture conveys more about Celestia than most of her in-show appearances, which is awesome for Devinian but kinda disappointing show-wise.
And getting to know her better might actually help cut down on the tyrant/evil/etc. portrals by fans, one there’s something more solid to contradict them.
@wrabbit
Yes, we sort of know, if we value something what the author said about Twilight not being immortal.
I’m aware that Celestia has had very little screen time so far, and in fact I’m dealing with what we’re presented until now.
She may turn out to be someone like Celestia in the comics but, as much as I find that funny and interesting, she doesn’t look plausible to me.
I’ve already expressed my headcanon, but I can undestand who thinks she’s outright evil, because there’s actually a basis to stand on (and the lack of a solid canon character development helps a lot).
@PonyPon
I tend to take the position that nothing outside the show is canon until proven that it agrees with it. When/if the show confirms that, I’ll believe it. It helps keep the haedcanon and speculation to a minimum.
@BigMax
Scrounge is right. The real problem with Celestia is that she has had so little screen time, that she literally has about as much personality as a one-off background pony with two minutes of total dialogue. Luna has had ten times the character developement that she has, and is far less important, both to the series, and to the setting. The only way to fix that is to start having episodes centered around her, rather than showing her sending Twilight off on another quest. We don’t have to have her be a demigoddess, and like I had said, she has been presented with flaws. I just honestly don’t see what making her fall from grace would add that wasn’t already accomplished with Luna turning into Nightmare Moon.
As for Twilight and Cadance being in a lower league, until we know whether or not Celestia and Luna were born alicorns, or grew into it, we cannot know if Twilight and Cadance will not achieve a similar power level.

The discussion is argumented and under control, there’s no bickering at all, just presentation of personal views… which are actually related to the pic.
If you don’t like them, just unsubscribe the thread.
@wrabbit
I agree, the problem is she’s barely had any time to show what she’s really like, personality-wise. Next to nothing in the actual show, and very little in the comics and such, gives her much characterization aside from her duties and official functions. We don’t know her the way we know Luna or Cadance. And I’d like it if we someday got a closer look.
@wrabbit
So you’re basically suggesting to take her as a demigoddess with superhuman physical and psychological abilities?
Boo-oring!
Not to mention that would also mean that Twilight and Cadance are princesses of a lower league.
