The reason I believe you is this is not the first time you have given a scornful comment (accidentally) like that, yet I know you well enough to know you’re a pretty stand-up person and you wouldn’t mean it aggressively.
 
In other words, modulate your criticism button between the people you agree with and the people you disagree with. Forgetting to do that? It ain’t friendly, and I know you don’t do it intentionally. Just an fyi.

Back then, AJ was SUPPOSED to be outright stronger then Rainbow Dash. RD said it herself early on.
 
To keep things in perspective, back then Rainbow Dash wasn’t the leader of all athletes in Ponyville(Hurricane Fluttershy, Equestria Games). She was just the town’s weather pony and local daredevil.

She has a Master’s in Aloof Big Sibling kickassery with a degree in Kenshiro/Jotaro brawling. I think the only people who could beat her are Discord or Celestia not holding back…

New Headcanon: While getting her masters in rockology, she was doing a paper on the moon and moonrocks when she discovered the same prophesy about Nightmare Moon Twilight found, and saw that her return was fast approaching. Since this was a threat known in advance, while at the farm, she trained ‘up to eleven’ just in case she had to protect Pinkie Pie. And when both Pinkie and Maud were together at home, Pinkie would set up martial arts avalanche training. That’s why Pinkie thought a freaking rock slide would be no problem while big sister Maud was there. Of course, Nightmare Moon was defeated in the first few hours of her return.
