Why go back when there are more possibilities? Don’t stop. The wonder of first finding the show and enjoying it doesn’t need to be the one and only place glory’s at! :DEdited
Understandable and I felt quite the same way (garbage adulthood; addicted to videogames past the point of no benefit) some years ago (I don’t feel near as bad anymore having taken specific changes) and there’s still something nifty going on here if you’re welcoming it instead of shrinking back in fear from its growth. Just saying. :)

Let me re-phrase that as it doesn’t appear right:
Sounds like it. I once saw something on Youtube that was so stupid, moronic and idiotic (and whatever other words you can think of like that) without comparison. It’s like the guy has no head!

YouTube comments, if it’s possible, gradually continue to get worse all the time.
Even in August I was still feeling welcoming and kind feelings from fans of the show.
One year later, I wasn’t seeing it as much. And now? I’m not judging them fully but I’ve seen people on Youtube who just seem to wear it as a mask to fit in with other people without any cause, being that they just have Pony avatars and don’t seem to care in the way they talk to others. It’s a mess.
The fact that the character adressed the absurdity of that Pinkie started singing made me curious to see what the show actually had to offer. Two days later, I was at Owls well that ends well and I waited for the next episode to be released.
While I was happy to see a fun little new show, what struck me the most was the community. The bronies as they were back then was literally what I needed to recover from 6 years of bullying and another year in mental confusion and despair. Now, I feel way better than I ever thought I would’ve the day before I saw that vid.
Well yes but that kind of falls under the concept of quality, I also love the way there is a lot of mythology nods in aspects of the show, like Celestia and Luna’s chariots.
Well, I really don’t have any interest in stories about talking house pets, and I doubt I’m alone in that perspective.
The ponies actually have a full on political system and adult lives and families and jobs and so on. Their stories give a much better impression of mattering.
We only had episodes up until DragonShy and the Winter Wrap Up song was leaked early.
Dec 2010 was a fun time.
@ArrJaySketch
Likely MLP:FiM garners more popularity then other shows simply because of the shocking and conflicting nature of the fan base and the fact the show is an exception to the rule of ‘media aimed towards girls is low quality mindless product advertisement’.
… Also, Initially I thought it pretty funny when I found the Pony thread in the forum’s Off-Topic section at Digitpress.com. The thread isn’t quite the same as it was three years ago now though, considering some links now go to dead URLs.
@PonyPon
Having watched the first season (and I keep meaning to watch the rest on DailyMotion), it is a lot of fun. There’s bits for the parents out there, and there’s even little bits for pony fans (still love the “My Small Squirrel” reference).
I’d say Gravity Falls is another one of those fantastic cartoons that really deserves an active fandom.
That is rather odd how one cartoon will catch, but another won’t, yet they’re all the same amount of fun to watch.
I watched MLP like any other show because hell, I grew up with MLP, and I’d just watch cartoons anyway. I think I remember people using a bunch of pony reaction images on a community on LiveJournal. I think having seen the reaction pictures made me want to re-watch the episodes, and found myself thinking how much fun they are.
Maybe that’s it. I hear of people getting into pony because of all the reaction images. I think if you’re in an environment where a lot of people can see them (like 4chan), more people will get curious about it and give it a watch.
That’s my guess, anyway.
I had heard of the TV show in June or July 2011 for the first time. I was reluctant at first but come July 31st I needed help and the next day, Though still reluctant, I started watching the first episode with the volume down at about 10:09 PM.
EIGHT EPISODES LATER, AT ABOUT 2 AM
“I FEEL ALIVE!”
You know, I hear that constantly.
If its just as good, why doesn’t it have a fandom?
Which is kinda what sucks about LPS, because it’s just as good as FIM (at times), but there’s virtually no fandom, compared to FIM.
The most I could find was a weekly “new episode” thread on /co/, and a couple small tumblrs, plus DerpyHoovesNews making their occasional LPS posts. (even if their reviewer is incredibly negative and tends to overanalyze everything)
A friend of mine had told me about the “new pony show”. At first I was hesitant to even watch due to the fact the earlier generations were awful. That’s when he told me to view a compilation of the best of Pinkie, telling me that she’s basically a modern-day Looney Tune.
That was the moment I decided to give all the episodes a shot. Watched them, got hooked and that’s where I come in.
Sure it’s had its few ups and downs, dramas, in-fights and all that, but hey, least the show and the fandom is entertaining.
This was after I’d graduated from college and was doing some grad school, before I got my job. Still visited family like twice a month because at the time I still had a reason to.
I haven’t doing anything with my life since then, really.
It’s a lot more fun when you have a bunch of other people to get hyped with you!
Heck, ponies even drove me to sneak out of school early…twice! Two fridays that had new episodes airing (Green Isn’t Your Color & A Bird in the Hoof) both lined up with my end-of-the-day class being essentially a free period where I did nothing. So I just said I was going to get something from my locker, and snuck out the side door of the school. Luckily I didn’t get caught either time. :P
Confound these ponies, they drive me to nearly get suspended!
