Hasbro can’t use the Beetle much for Bumblebee anymore because of licensing issues with Volkswagen (apparently the fact that Transformers are fighting a war hit VW too close to home because Nazis), hence why in the films, he’s a Camaro. Personally, however, I would have chose a Prius, as it is about the same size proportionally to a Beetle.
I watched a lot of G1 when I was little, I got the full boxset of it even, but I don’t claim it’s better then all the others.
