Most of the mares, be it an oc or canon characters look like stallions and the stallions look like mares ;p

well… first, twilight took a long time to realize it… so its possible rarity didn’t know.
 
and second, this is taking place in a world where celestis screwed off for… well… depends on how long you want ponys to be kids for, human years probably close to 10-15 years. and because twilight is still the apprentice, and a princess, it assumes it takes place after season 3
 
i assume spike to be 10-13 in the show, so spike is anywhere from 20 to 28 in there, and rarity, again i assume the ponies are adults considering pinky left home, has a job and a place to live, and apparently she is the youngest or one of the youngest, so in show 18-20 so 28-35… but we are going a bit headcannony there.

alot of fiction puts dragons as either immortal or living for thousands of years.
 
however you also see in show spike can be fully grown by sucumbing to selfishness, so its possible thats as big as he will get unless he lets himself go.
