That said, I’m not entirely comfortable continuing this discussion. I started looking up up to date info on current asexual terminology, and I found myself surrounded by tumblr bullshit words like gray and demisexual mixed in with the old hetero/homo/bi/aromantic terms. Now I’m starting to fear that these terms may have been the precursors to such buzzword bs.
 
Could anyone who actually is asexual weigh in on this?

Then you’re speaking of a population, not a community. A community is local. A population is much broader. Get your terms straight before you throw them around and act like you know everything.
 
And speaking of relationships, just about all of them are, in the end, fueled by a desire for reproduction. Seeing as asexuality deals with a lack of said desire, it’s fair to state that the majority of asexual people have no interest in any kind of romantic relationship.

Do you see how stupid that sounds? Of course Asexuals have a community. For the same reason homosexuals have a community: they’re a minority group who need a voice.
 
And no, asexuality refers strictly to a lack of desire for sex. It has nothing to do with a lack of desire for relationships of any kind.

I’m saying that actual asexuals a use the hetero/homo/bi/aromantic terminology, so perhaps we don’t really get a say. Not entirely certain what was illogical about that.
 
Then again, the last time I was really watching the asexual community was before the Tumblr era, so perhaps they’ve changed terminology since then (by them I mean the legitimate asexual community, not the tumblrinas), so I could be completely wrong here.

A lot of concepts once belonged to other ideas and groups before certain organization used them so definitely they become forever linked to that organization.(swastikas,crosses,the Fleur-de-lis) Their origin isn’t the matter ,its what it has come to represent and unfortunately aromantic has become another piece of SJW lingo used by the Tumbler crowd in combination with all their other lexicon for newly made orintatgenderaltys. I still don’t think the idea of companionship with the opposite sex without the sex something that requires a special label but that’s my perspective.

Wait how can an asexual go on a date? Whats the point if your asexual. For companionship? If so your not gonna enter the world of sexuality and don’t need to give it a label. To me true asexuallity means your either a single celled organism or a plant that buds.
