For the most part, they’re pretty useless. Archaeologists don’t want meticulously prepared examples of what a past civilization wanted to be remembered by. They want what everyday life was like.
The best things that could be put in vaults like that are personal diaries and journals, not random junk.
What about time capsules and Crypt of Civilization , etc? (Of course, practically none of them them depicts FiM…)
Computers and the internet won’t last forever. A major solar flare, and good bye hard drives.
You have no idea how fragile that information is. Almost no format that we currently store things on is well suited for centuries-long preservation.
Seeing as we live in an age where anything and everything is documented on the internet and thus stored on a hard drive somewhere, I don’t think we’re ever going to be wondering about the past in the same way we do today.
