Description
No one knew the real reason Equestria needed a new princess, especially not Princess Twilight. No one knew, but Celestia. You see, Princess Celestia was growing very old. Her age was not outwardly noticeable, but her diminishing power was. She was not the alicorn she was a thousand years ago. Back then, she could defeat any manor of villain which threatened the land. Occasionally she needed help, as her sister and the usurping of Discord, but legend fables her conquering of countless enemies to Equestia. She still had power in her last days, but it was not enough to turn Discord back to stone, fend off the onslaught of the Changlings, or send Lord Tirek back to Tartarus.
Though Luna was only slightly younger than her elder sister, being imprisoned within the ageless rock that is the moon and possessed by a dark force had kept her mortal soul in stasis. And Princess Cadence was hardly older than the average pony when she was appointed. But the high ruler was reaching the end of her time.
After King Sombra was eliminated and Princess Cadence was reinstated as heir to the Crystal Empire, Celestia decided Equestia was in dire need of a fourth (soon to be third) princess. She still had told no one of her state until after Tirek was expelled; she did not wish to worry her sister, her protege, or her subjects. Only then, she entered her last weak months. And everyone began to notice when she began to let go and cancel the spell which masked her age with a youthful appearance. She had a hard time getting around, she became senile and confused, and by the end she had said her last heartfelt farewells to all her friends. With tearful eyes, Celestia had finally moved on, leaving the now three princesses, and the nation, in a state of heartbreak.
After over a thousand years, the rightful Queen of Equestia is dead. Long live the Queen.

I did like how Celestia took part of the blame for the NMM mess instead of acting like Luna alone was at fault there.
That’s one of the things that bothered me about Luna’s reformation was handled, Celestia acted like Luna alone was at fault even though I am pretty sure both sisters messed up big time(not just Luna).
Or Captain America. I’m a moron. XD
Not physically, I’d think. Like that chick from Tales GCN or the group from Tenroujima in Fairy Tail.
She has to be at least 1000, unless she didn’t age while she was Nightmare Moon.
Vice versa. Though, that’s correct, Luna is probably not even 500. :T
With a few exceptions (Twilicorn, Discord reforming)
I know. Things like that are a 1 episode thing.
I just meant that they wouldn’t all be around at the same time.
Can’t really say you’re wrong unless deep down you want the opposite of what you posted and only lied to yourself.
Am I wrong?
Um… Ok…
What makes you think they hate her?
I’d be fine with it as long as it wasn’t permanent. It’d kinda throw off the series if Twilight couldn’t come out during the day. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash could probably stay up if they wanted, and hell only knows if Pinkie even has a regular sleep schedule, but Applejack would have to get up at the crack of dawn to do her chores, and Rarity would insist on getting her beauty sleep.
Ok. Now I WANT to see that happen just to see the reactions.
They had a perfect chance to do so twice during season 4; why didn’t they?
Killing and reviving Optimus has been a thing since 1986. I think they feel obligated.
The writers of the show hate Celestia too much. They just want to kill her off.
Hm… Vamponies and Liches?
“Beast Wars” ended with more casualties than survivors. It’s possibly still not a real rule.
