I hate to interrupt your narrative with fact-checking an’ stuff, but the word “ableism” predates Tumblr by 26 years, and much of the (non-kneejerk) anger over Derpy’s bowdlerization came from people who pointed out that erasing her characterization was pretty damn ableist.
…“Erasure” as a sociological term predates Tumblr by 35 years, by the way.
What are you on about? Derpy is already her official name. The fans use it, the staff use it. Several products use it too on their barcode labels. There is no point trying to create other names at this point. It’s just better to know what her name is in silence than say it outloud and be attacked for ableism or whatever word Tumblr invents next.
There is no real censoriship going on here at all. It’s just about being too tired of putting up with idiots. You’d do the same if you had an army of angry brats harrassing you too.
They’re never going to use that name, or any other name officially though. So chill.

Yeah, that’s… AKR’s involvement with it. Someone at DHX asked her what she thought about it, but in the end, as she says, it wasn’t up to her.
Amy Keaton Roger’s story is a li’l different, and doesn’t involve Apple.
…Nnnope. It was entirely Apple’s fault; a small but noisy number of Easily Offended People™ complained to them, and Apple told Hasbro to bowdlerize the episode or they wouldn’t make it available on iTunes. iTunes is a big chunk of free profit for Hasbro, so they told DHX to nerf Derpy’s scenes.
The “Doo” makes it seem like she’s in the wrong cartoon show. You know, the one with the meddling kids and talking Great Dane?
Pop Fly makes it sound like she should be a pro baseball player, but I do like Doozy. Doozy Doo? I’m kinda stuck with a two-part name, it’s hard to imagine her without it.
Come to think of it, the word Doozy often gets used to refer to a big mishap of some kind, so it also works to allude to Derpy’s clumsiness.
The last time I was in a discussion over a replacement name for Derpy, my suggestion was “Doozy”. It means “something outstanding or unique of its kind”, which pretty much defines Derpy considering the amount of attention she gets, and what she’s come to represent.
My other suggestions might be a little on the corny side, though: “Pop Fly” (She has bubbles, which pop; she’s a pegasus, which flies) and “Platinum Blonde” (Since she is literally a blonde with a platinum coat).
