The “barely reformed” thing wasn’t meant as a complaint, just saying that it’s not like, say, Sunset Shimmer, who did a 180 pretty much right away after her defeat (also not a complaint, I know if I found myself at the bottom of a smoking crater, I’d be thinking about where my life had gone wrong too), but is a much slower process, with some of that progress being lost when Tirek showed up.
And I thought Pinkie was Fluttershy?
Yeah, let’s just settle on that. Discord is Discord, just like how Pinkie is still Pinkie.

Yeah, though the S4 finale seems to of more-so cemented his reformation, and put him on friendlier terms with the Mane 6, (and Celestia) after he helped them, after Tirek betrayed him. So he’ll probably be a li’l nicer, but still a troll occasionally.
I think at some points during season 4, it’s fair to say he’s barely reformed.
My M.O. as well. And while he may be reformed, he’s still the spirit of chaos and (currently minor) disharmony. It’s what he is. Can’t just rub that out of him.

I mean, I don’t blindly love everything about the show either, in fact, at first I was quite reluctant about the idea of Discord pulling a “heel-face-turn” back in Season 3, only I didn’t freak-out, rant about it constantly, and such. I was willing to give it a shot, and I ended up enjoying said episode, and became ok with the idea.
I also like how he wasn’t “fully” reformed, and still mischevious, and such. (Also interesting they developed this more during the Season 4 finale.)
Eh, most fan-drama is unjustified, imho.
Probably, but even so, Twilight’s new princess status was hardly regarded at all in Season 4, (aside from the season opening, and a few later episodes) making the fan-drama a li’l unjustified. So the status-quo hasn’t really been upsetted that much really IMO.
Personally, I don’t think it is. Hasbro wants to sell toys. They tell the cartoon makers they want such and such toy in the cartoon so people will buy them. The cartoon makers try to work it into the show. End of story.
PonyPon probably hits the nail on the head. Robots getting an upgrade or a new body is one thing. A main character getting elevated to royalty has more potential consequences. And some people take these things (too) seriously.
In my mind, that’s just robots getting upgraded.
No intensely debatable “character growth” attached.
But then again, I haven’t watched that series.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Beast Wars too, but, playing devil’s advocate, how is Princess Twilight so different from all the ways the Maximals and Predacons changed over the course of the series?
The writing was always one of BW’s strong points.
I was really impressed with the way the writers handled that glaringly obvious mandate from Corporate in-universe; having Megatron mock “Optimal Optimus” was brilliant, and they managed to turn the whole Transmetals thing into a believably coherent part of the storyline that made at least as much sense as “there are only animals to scan and we have to stay that way because energon reasons”.

So you’re saying the quantum surge wasn’t a transparent excuse to make a bunch of characters into Transmetals so they could advertise that year’s toys? You’re either very charitable or you’re racist against living machines.
