I’ve also heard that at least once in his later years Schreck got past a Wehrmacht patrol who thought he was up to no good by making like Orlock. He did such a good job that they immediately believed he was indeed Max Schreck.
 
And a bit OT but did you ever see a very bizarre movie titled Shadow of the Vampire which was based on the idea that Schreck was a real Nosferatu, and that Murnau feeds him various actors to get him to help make the movie?
