There seemed to be a few of those.
Yeah, she never really did that prior in the show, or comic.
Still, I like how it might be a bit of a shot at the people who complain the comics are “to dark” for kids. According to Katie Cook many kids love the comics. She even said kids loved the “Nightmare Rarity” arc better then the bronies did.
Evil Celestia violently attacked the parallel Luna in order injure regular Luna and draw regular Celestia into her world.
While forgetting how “dark” some children’s fairy-tales, TV shows, movies, and such are occasionally. (Just look at Return to Oz, Little Nemo: Adventures in Slimberland, Goonies, and such were. Those were total “nightmare fuel” at times, yet I loved those movies as a kid.)
In fact, in the original “Little Mermaid” story, the mermaid died originally.
