I will say the “universal balance” thing might already a bit touchy. I haven’t read the comics (at all. All I every bought that was MLP-related was an energy drink, some gems for the game and a JDL picture) so I don’t know much about what happened.

In the first sentence I hope you mean just the Reflection arc.

As a fan of Metroid and MLP FiM, I will say than both are equally bad. Let see, for the Reflection arc, Celestia, someone who’s wise, selfless, mostly aware of the situations and her actions and had the power to raise the sun decide to go to an another universe for her own because she’s in love with Good Sombra without thinking she had one of the most important job in her universe, which is raising and lowering the sun and, while her sister were banished, the moon, which is leaving her universe to eternal drought or eternal night. I suppose there’s more, but did I get it right? I can understand a character going OoC as long there’s an strong and good reason, but the reason were weak and bad.

You know what other words get thrown around a lot? Hasdrone and Overrated. But it doesn’t make their proper usage any less true just because people abuse them.
