no, mlp was due for a new series due to lapsing interest, so they hired someone known for making cartoons good even with more simplistic animation, however she accidently resonated with an audience far older than intended.
cartoon network is much the same, they need to make something but they hire people with no talent other then they know a meme when they see it and every now and then they accidently make something watchable, and do note I didn’t say good.
I bet that’s what you said when you were first introduced to MLP.
i dont have a dvr, so steven universe is one i never catch while its on, and gumball, i watched some clips, nothing i would go out of my way to see, but nothing i would actively avoid.
you want to see examples of crap, take a look at anything that plays on what was formerly adult swim hours. at this point its an accident when they greenlight something like rick and morty, where as tom goes to the mayor, or better yet, 12 ounce mouse is the more… standard choice for them to greenlight.
cartoon network anymore lives and dies on its syndicated shows.

You’re giving the Network way too much flak.
If you were talking about the days when live-action TV shows ran rampant CN, I’d agree with you but that’s becoming a non-issue sans that Award show that airs once a year.
There’s good programs on the network that isn’t just ‘stoner/dumb humor’ What about The Amazing World of Gumball and Steven Universe?
As for Clarence, have you tried looking past the art style? The show is slice-of-life and about kids being kids which isn’t terrible and all the characters are likeable. It’s pretty much the successor to Ed, Edd, and Eddy.
Don’t they have any standards for quality?!?!! Many of the shows on there are just awful. I think the accidental good shows were the Looney Tunes Show, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Inc. and Batman the Brave and the Bold. With the crap they green light, it’s a wonder anybody ever watches cartoon network. I’ve seen three year olds who could draw better than the animators and character designers on those shows.
sometimes great things slip through the cracks but its so few and far between that i have to assume that its an accident at this point.
