That’s unfortunate, and sounds lazy. This is why I constantly say shows like My Little Pony have more potential than they are willing to use.
Probably too much continuity. Shame, too, because that would’ve been good for us. With lots of shows the producers want to minimize how often you had to have seen a previous episode to understand a current one. MLP included, with reports from the writers saying Hasbro has requested that most episodes be stand-alones, and even nixing some multiple-episode stories.
They should’ve made follow-ups to previously established plot lines. Or would that require too much continuity?
This was the most head-pounding on the desk parts. Here you are, Captain Picard, who is not only a very highly-educated Starfleet captain, but you’ve been exposed to countless cultures, one of your main hobbies is archeology and anthropology, and you’ve said if you weren’t a Starfleet officer you’d basically be a futuristic Indiana Jones. Yet you struggled with simple symbolism that the audience understood immediately.
I know they had to drag it out for the episode. Once season 7 hit, you could really tell they were struggling to come up with episodes.
It was creative. Just lacking in meaningful explanation and the main characters being unable to understand simple symbolism.
True.
Yeah, if you want a bad episode you go for Shades Of Grey or some of the dredge from Season 1.
Masks is not a bad episode. It is not be the best, but it’s far from the worst.
I also instantly saw it and went. “hah, star trek.” then I’m like. cool episode.
I just like the bad episodes for some reason lol
“Let us never speak of this again Luna.”
A lot of Star Trek eps fell into the “never mentioned again” trope.
