But again, barely anyone would have claimed any real seriousness about it back then. When FlashLight became an actual, semi-official thing, suddenly the most crack ships imaginable (not only Blueblood but also Comet Tail, or any of the other Mane Six) were being offered up in contrast. If people want to have outrageous crack pairings, good for them, but let’s have none of this BS about their ship being in any way superior.
 
I almost forgot about all the Spike dog rage. Funny how that’s not an issue any more, for some reason.

TwiBlood was jokingly a thing when one of those horrible comics- a German version I believe, the ones with the constantly reused stock photo vectors for each frame had made a comic about Twilight meeting her prince which turned out to be Prince Blueblood. However some folk latched onto it and were like ‘wait what if that could work?’
 
This all happened long long before EQG came out, when the only things we had was that picture of the 6 of them standing in a hall, and the possiblity of Spike!Dog was making people’s blood boil.

Heck, I’m one of the few who ever bring it up in realation to Flashlight.

It just, understandably, never had alot of popularity.

I never heard anyone breath a whisper of such an absurd match until Flash came along. Then all of a sudden, knee-jerk hyperbole kicked in so that fans who disliked Flash could make wild exaggerations to demonstrate their unaccountable tastes. Taking one of the most annoying characters in the series and acting like he isn’t completely worthless is so much crazier than Twilight developing a crush on some nice guy, it’s difficult to express in words.

I don’t even think he’s all that “bland” so far. We don’t know all that much about him, but being warm and friendly is hardly the same thing as having no pdrsonality. Calling him a “cardboard cutout” ignores the fact that EVERY character in MLP is classifiable under certain tropes and stereotypes. People say he’s not interesting to them, but what they define as interesting is always basically to say they wish he was more screwed up in the head. When did we get such whacked out ideas about what makes a person worth getting to know, sheesh.
 
My best example of this is the collection of nut jobs who say they’d rather even see a halfwit d-bag like Blueblood “shipped” with Twilight than Flash. It’s totally ridiculous.

Or maybe because I’m a Twilight Sparkle fan and think the closest thing to a canon ship should be something good?
 
And no, pretty much everyone who ships Flashlight acknowledges Flash is pretty bland in his current state, and tries to improve on him. The same happened in S1 with Big Mac, Soarin’, whatever other people who only had a few lines and only hints to personality, we just aren’t turned off completely by Flash’s rocky introduction.

And I’m pretty sure that most people that ship this only do so to piss of Twilight Sparkle fans… or are still blind to the fact that Flash actually needs the fandom’s help to have a personality
