@Background Pony #6C5F Knighting technically is how you become royalty through marriage, it just takes a few more generations than in MLP. Become a knight, marry a baroness. Your kid marries a count/ess. Now they’re eligible for trying to snag a princess. But they might need to upgrade one more time in most cases.

even though in the real world you would have to be born as one. because that is literally how royalty works. you cant earn it. if you ain’t born into it, tough shit.
 
which is why i think that being able to just, become royalty in mlp is a hunk of bull shit.  
I mean i’m happy for twilight sure but. seriously that’s not how it fucking works and it pisses me off.
 
its no different then if the queen of England made me a prince because she thought a joke i said was funny and i had a nice pair of shoes on.

But what we got for Cadance was vague at best, and I hardly consider what Twilight did was “perfecting her ideal.”

Actually we do. There’s a book explaining how it happened for Cadance (she was born a pegasus), and it’s similar for Twilight. When you perfect your ideal, you can ascend. Tia and Luna may be (or may not be, it isn’t hinted at either way) naturally born alicorns from very long ago, but if they are, they are likely the last of their kind.
