It’s been hinted at a Trading Card that his horn survives, but only time will tell if he will ever return. Continuity/leak or not, we’ll wait and see….

This show is so full of stuff that could be easily retconned as having been important– like Tirek being M.A. Larson’s fault for having Cerberus abandon post in S2– that I wonder how much of it is intentional. Not necessarily because they have plans to do anything specific, but just in case they might want to later. They totally could bring Sombra back at some point if they wanted, for example, since they practically wrote half the script already by having his horn nearly bounce off the camera after he got blow’d up. Ever since the middle of S3, they’ve shown a definite fondness for referencing earlier episodes, so it’s obvious that they have such things in mind.

It’s shitty because it’s wrong. The show’s own writers have discussed their schedules. While the general concept for such a late episode in season four might have been kicking around the offices during season two’s production, such a minute detail wouldn’t have been in place yet. Thus, it was not intentional. They likely used the original animation as a base and modified it for the new episode, as I stated above.
