I mean honest to God, nothing left to guess, blushing and giggle teasing, not just any contact between the genders. That’s way too easy to take overboard. Implications are still mostly opinions but Twilight and Flash were sending a clear message.

To be fair, the CheesePie, Fluttercord, Dislestia, and especially RariSpike ‘ships have had more implications and such on screen than FlashLight has had.
 
I think the animosity is mostly because people in the fandom don’t view the movie having any significant/important connection to the canon of the episodes, and as yet Flash hasn’t had any real identifiers of real importance in the show greater than that of simply being a background guard. So it’s believable that many would dislike what they view to be not-strictly-canon being somehow mixed in with the canon story of the episodes.
 
…That believability breaks down, however, when one realizes that a piece of fan-art or even a simple vector made by a fan has absolutely no bearing on the show’s canon whatsoever no way no how nuh-uh never ever ever ever no none nada zip zero zilch, but people get defensive when approached with things they’re uncomfortable with, so best to just let sleeping dogs pones lie

Some of the most popular ships in this fandom are based on nothing. The fact that these two are the only who’ve ever even implied anything on screen, well, people are gonna ship it.

I find it hard to believe people find Flash so unbearable, but here we are.

I still am incapable of believing the idea that Flashlight pics are made unironically.
