Firstly, do you even FAQ?  
Q: “You may have been asked this already, but why not make a Kickstarter campaign?”
A: First of all, we think that since it is our debut game it is rather pointless and even a bit rude asking people to pay, before we have even shown what we are capable of doing. Let us at least finish some significant part of the game, before mentioning Kickstarter and other indie games fundraisers. Secondly, we want this particular project to be free-of-charge, because earning money on Hasbro and Ubisoft brands is inappropriate (and probably illegal).
 
Secondly, I doubt that there will be any problems. Nick Perumov’s Lord of the Rings fanfics are published by large publisher. Not to mention J. K. Rowling sue against Dmitri Yemets’s “Tanya Grotter” has failed.

Presently, it’s working, though it’s probably a good idea to stop before the “profit” part. We don’t need more C&Ds, this game looks promising.
