I know you’re trying to be positive, but all I can think about is how apparently the fandom doesn’t want share Derpy with anyone outside the fandom. Best to keep her appearances unobtrusive and generic, to make sure she doesn’t do anything that might threaten fanon or attract attention. Maybe by next year, no kids will be interested enough to ask questions about her at San Diego Comic Con, and she’ll truly be ours again.
And since I’m the only one who sees this as a bad thing, I’ll acknowledge defeat and shut up now.
I do like her personality too.
Derpy has a personality, she has a personality created by fans. In all other cases, canon beats fanon, what’s in the episodes/films/comics is real, everything else is nice conjecture about other characters and events.
But not Derpy,
Not OUR Derpy.
She’s ours, she’s a loving mother, a ditzy mailmare with a muffin obsession and we Bronies love her.
Ain’t a hater going to change that.
Ain’t any episode edit going to ruin that.
Derpy is always adorable, Fanon forever.
And “Luna Eclipsed”. And “Secret of My Excess”. And “Sweet and Elite”. And “Hearth’s Warming Eve”. And “Pinkie Pride”. And “Rainbow Falls”. And “Simple Ways”. Heck, even “Magical Mystery Cure”.
It’s not about whether she has a name and a voice, it’s about whether she has a personality. Though I’m beginning to feel like a lone voice howling in the wind on this subject.
@ArrJaySketch
Which is better than nothing, but I’m going to miss seeing her popping up out of a well or crashing a montage of haute couture ponies while wearing pearls and a paper bag.
In other words, exactly how she’s been in every single appearance except for The Last Roundup.
It’s a bit like a mix of S1 and S2. Not exactly blending into the background, but more prominent than other background ponies.
