While Twilight has saved the world, she has no experience in leading a nation. Every problem is different, and, in my honest opinion, the writers missed an opportunity. That’s just me though.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I didn’t say season 1. I’ve believed that every season has for the most part gotten better. I like season two and three every bit as much as one. And season three wasn’t really that long ago. The season premiere of this season wasn’t even bad. Not perfect, but I enjoyed it.
It’s only since the season truly began that it has taken a strange turn.

I don’t know, just because she saved the day a few times doesn’t mean she knows how to run a country in a state of emergency. The other mane six did the right thing when they sent her back to Ponyville. Protecting the last remaining Princess should have been their top priority.

“ Most of them just haven’t struck me the way they did in previous seasons. “
Nostalgia Glasses combined with the loss of the initial rush you got from watching it when the whole show was brand new, you’re used to it now - of course its not going to resonate with you the same way Season 1 did.

Yeah, I think that’s pretty fair. I really thought after actually making her a princess that they’d treat her like one. I mean, if they’re going to go that far, they might as well have ran with it.
It almost felt all season long that they were afraid of acknowledging too often that she was a princess. It made her coronation feel kinda inconsequential.
Actually, inconsequential is a great word for a lot of the episodes this season. Most of them just haven’t struck me the way they did in previous seasons. Digibrony had it right when he said that he felt lost this season.

If you’re going to blame larson for twiliacorn then you got to blame him for Discord as well, since he wrote the episodes he was introduced in. He wasn’t the one who came up with the genesis of either idea but hey, why the hell not credit him with Discord.

I think what irritated me about the premier was all the ponies rushing to Twilight, saying something along the lines of “It’s Princess Twilight. She’ll know what to do.”

I want to see that doubt in their minds as she is a newly ascended princess.

Personally, I wanted to see prince D-Bag (Blue Blood) step in and say he has control when “Auntie” is away. Show him to either be a capable leader who’s shallow which is a result of his fear, or just show him to be downright incompetent and Twilight tricks him.

Even have the d-bag get his just desserts at the end where Celestia rips him a new one.

That’s why I like Amy Keating Roger’s episodes so much. She understands the characters, writes for them instead of writing them into the story, and builds a very credible story.

Testing Testing 1, 2, 3 I liked because of the moral hitting home for me, but also due to the portrayal of each character. Twilight acted like herself, Rainbow Dash procrastinated, Fluttershy tried her best her way, and it just built up to a prominent ending.

I would say Testing Testing 1, 2, 3 is in my top 5 favorite episodes of all time.

I completely agree. He has a habit of only showing the characters at their shallowest. He doesn’t include any of the depth we’ve seen in them across the seasons. He strikes me as someone who’s gotten a two or three sentence summary of each character, and writes solely based on that.

I think the only reason I call Trade Ya mediocre at best is only because its so much better than the other two episodes he’s written. Otherwise, I completely agree with everything you said.

I have to say I didn’t like the premier, but the premier is better than Castle Mania and Trade Ya. Both those episodes felt like some kid was given a free gift card to Best Buy and he was allowed to buy whatever he wanted. The catch was the card had to be used within 30min. That kid stood there, pissed away 25 minutes deciding what to buy, and wasted 4 minutes of it darting from place to play looking for what they wanted. In the end, they only managed to get 1/4 of what they could have nabbed if they stayed on course with a single notion.

Trade Ya is my least favorite episode. The prime reason being how it feels like some horrible Scooby Doo esk episode as it darts from character to character like Castle Mania.

I don’t have a problem with a multi-character episode, but those two episodes just fell flat on their face.

I will apologize if this is very rude/uncalled for, but Castle Mania and Trade Ya felt amateurish at best. I’m talking amateurish to the point it felt like the episodes were written by a fan-fiction writer that didn’t know what to do.

He didn’t write either of those. Castle-Mania was his other one. I was making a joke about how forgettable that episode was by pretending not to remember the name.

Haber is fine if not a little bland in his writting.I’m more concerned about Sonnenborn who seems to struggle understanding the characters

Larson coming back would almost make up for them hiring Haber! While I won’t get my hopes up until a more concrete confirmation, I would be so hyped to see Larson back.
