Exactly my point.  
Unicorns are extreme specialists at their given cutiemark-unique spells. And since the sisters have celestial bodies on their buts, moving celestial bodies is their “given spell”.
 
It emulates a divine-like level of magic power, when in reality is the same thing that allows SA to create a shield stronger than what two much more powerful and experienced alicorns could create themselves. Its proof that “everything else they can do” is not on the same level as their sun/moon-moving feats.

Because in Heart’s Warming Eve they said unicorns used to do it before the sisters were born, so its VERY unlikely that the sisters moving the sun/moon is because of pure power, rather, its most likely from the unique spell related to their cutiemarks, and old age unicorns somehow had access to it. Just like how most unicorns have a unique spell related to their own.
 
Another example of the sister’s limits is in Canterlot Wedding, since Twilight flat out stated that Shining Armor was the only one who could create a barrier as big/strong as that one. Ie not even the sisters. So much emphasis they put on this, that Celestia herself placed this task upon his shoulders despite the spell causing him headaches and him being about to get married. Since SA’s cutiemark is a shield (representing protection) then he could create a shield stronger than the sisters could, proving the relevance cutiemarks have on a unicorn’s/alicorn’s specific spell.

Obviously they’re not Yahweh-tier gods, but they pack more power than a fair portion of the Greek pantheon. I mean, your average solar deity needs a chariot to pull the sun, and Celestia can do it from the comfort of her castle.

By that logic anything that isn’t literally spelled out for us wouldn’t be beyond the realm of plausbility no matter how obvious it would be that it is. Nothing in the show has ever suggested them to be gods other than a few early fans thinking it would be “amusing” to promote them as such. It got popular and BAM, newer fans mistakenly believe its a fact.

Put a horn ring on her and tie her wings down, then make her do filthy manual labor for a few days in a farm. That should knock that ego back down to size.
