Return from the Darkness

…come on, it wasn’t that bad. Rainbow got caught up in the moment, and probably wasn’t paying attention to the fact that Fluttershy was part of the deal. It could have been far, far worse. Something stupid, like getting back home, and then realizing she’s traded off Fluttershy for a book or, worse, not noticing/caring for an extended period of time.

You do have a point, though, as this writer was the same one who did Somepony to Watch Over Me; however, in comparison to Williams, she started off with an arguably terrible episode (Mare-do-Well), went up with Hearth’s Warming Eve, stumbled with the handed-to-her-at-the-last-minute Putting Your Hoof Down, stumbled again with Spike At Your Service and Dragon Quest, and soared–no pun intended–with Wonderbolts Academy and Bats!. With Scott Sonneborn–the writer of this episode and Somepony to Watch Over Me–being new, maybe he will show more signs of improvement as Williams did, once he learns the characters better.

This is like Merriwether Williams all over again… Rainbow Dash’s character is condemned to be always abused by newcoming writers to spit on. It’s always the same, when a new writer comes to the show (in this case Scott Sonneborn) they don’t seem to care about Rainbow Dash’s learning progress from the past episodes. It’s like he completely ignored all the improvements that Rainbow Dash made throughout the past seasons, which made her a much better pony. It’s like he re-used the primitive beta RD character traits from season one, but she has made much progress since then. It’s just sad when a newcoming writer throws all of the progress away and makes it useless. That’s the problem when you let lots of different people write for the same fictional characters, because everyone have their own perception and way of writing them, which fucks up the entire character if the lessons and progress learned in the previous episodes is not being contained. I blame the other members of the team too. Aren’t they at least checking the episode before it gets aired? Because they should at least have noticed that RD from the recent episode completely lacked all of her learned progress from the past episodes, so they should have talked to the new writer and, maybe, reworked the episode to make it go with the actual progress of the character, without ruining the character again…. But here it seems they didn’t give a fuck about that

The exact same phrase entered my own mind. I blame Cookie Clicker.
I’ll admit, a bit of reaction came out of me when I saw someone mentioning “slavery is canon” and eventually saw that scene. When she said it was only until the thing was trained I relaxed thinking it was only a week.
Then Fluttershy said she had no idea how long it would take and I reactioned again.
(I don’t think I felt emotion but y’know what I mean)

Did anybody else find it a little disturbing that you could trade ponies themselves? That’s a little like indentured servitude.
