If they did that, then it would ruin the purpose of Chekhov’s gun. Or in this case, Fluttershy’s bear whistle.

First thing I thought when I saw this scene.

right right, i wasnt saying lifting it was necessary, but i was also pointing out that fluttershy has been in situations like this before and didnt bother flying over

Not sure if we get what the other actually mean, but the majority of comments I’ve been getting for this comic try to explain why they couldn’t fly over the crowd by saying they can’t lift the orthos when they didn’t have to lift the orthos in this situation.
 
They just needed to do something like one of them flying over the crowd & telling the stand pony thus buying the other time to take the orthos to the stand pony.  
Or something like that.
 
I don’t know why everyone isn’t figuring that out.

My point was that in this situation they don’t have to carry the orthos.

They didn’t need to carry the orthos. They only needed to stop the Daring Do stand pony from leaving so they can inform her that they have the orthos. Then they’d be able to bring the orthos forth at their leisure. Jeez.

Because this is about the same as elbowing your way to the front of the line?

Because they’d have to carry the orthros, who would probably react very violently to an unexpected airlift.
