This is just my imagination about what would be if it was a fantasy world with dragons, golems, magic weapon and etc…  
It’s Big Mac, he famous as grand smith and warrior, also in good relation with animals and other creatures. For exenlpe: Here is two pets, lazy golem and black dragon…

This would imply that his cutie mark doesn’t have so much to do with apples as cutting apples (and presumably other things), so working with blades kind of fits.
