In my experience, only in Twilight, and Thor have I seen that. Thor gets a slight pass because it seems like Asgardians experience time differently or something, but in every other case it’s always creepy.

They have a strong relationship, sure, but the idea of romance between them in light of the insane age difference would make it downright outrageous.

Ironically, Discord is the one male character with the most interaction with Fluttershy.  
In fact, after Shining/Cadance and arguably Spike/Rarity, Discord and Fluttershy are the most worked upon male/female relationship in the show.
