Description
I technically made this as a response to Jan’s C&D, but it could be used anywhere. Remove the word “Hasbro”, and it’s universal.

If TPP passes… nowhere.
Well, I’m taking the first ship outta here.
To where… Any suggestions for an English-speaker tired of the world’s evil?
No one will do it. The government is old, crotchety, and rely on corporate funding to keep on living, which means screwing over the free wills of citizens everywhere and making the founding fathers spin in their graves as they pervert what would have been a fair and just system to ensure that some guy who randomly copies and sells light bulbs would not easily outsell the guy who invented them in the first place.

Anyone for new copyright laws? Anyone?
(Cricket chirps)
Even that is of limited virtue, because of the monetary advantage you can threaten and settle all you like. A single case won’t nessecarily deter that.
You need to change certain laws.
Either create a more clearly defined and rigorous Fair Use protection in the law… or changing the financial liablity of litigation so to account to protect against predatory litigation.
Of clearly, both.
I’ve thought about that a couple times lately with all this nonsense.
We really need someone, ideally someone with a LOT of weight and heft online, eg, Team Four Star (they have one of the better cases) to actually go to court, win, and set a clear, legal precedent.
Of course, that would also risk them losing and setting a precedent against it…
HOLY RA! Real Copyright issues!
Apparently.
There’s one actually, but YT doesn’t give a buck about it even if it’s used.
So, in other words.
Jan: Wait a minute, did you just remove my Fair Use video?
Hasbro: Yeah, so?
Jan: That’s against the rules, isn’t it?
Hasbro: SCREW THE RULES! I HAVE MONEY!
Money actually isn’t a bar in the law. Problem is fair use is an active defense (not a right or protection) so it has to go to court to ultimately hold… and Hasbro has more money for that battle.
But he didn’t make any profit from it.
