Personally, I’ve always thought of Angel as a spoiled brat. And yes, he has shown in several episodes he does care for Fluttershy.
 
Doesn’t mean OP is wrong. I’m not sure I’d agree, but I’d have to think about it.

Bull. In “Putting Your Hoof Down” he outright bitchslapped her for not making him the elaborate salad he wanted. That’s not a cry for attention; he had her full attention already. That was just abuse.

Angel loves Fluttershy very much. He’s not the best-natured pet, but he’s better-natured than Opalescence, at least. And even Opal showed she cares in “Sweet and Elite.” Angel may slap Fluttershy on occasion, or bean her with a carrot, but it’s out of frustration, not a lack of loving her. He’s never had to scare her into claiming she fell down the stairs, or is just clumsy. He’s just getting her attention.

Huh?…You’re right. While Angel is a insufferable jerk a majority of the time, we know he does care for Fluttershy and has had one or two redeeming moments.
 
Opal….Opal is just a fussy cat that has a fierce temper. Heck, even Rarity has trouble with her.

Hey now… The fandom gives Angel too much crap… Fluttershy really needs him around. When you have a submissive personality like hers, she needs a dominate personality to keep her feeling safe. Angel essentially fills the role of a protective parent while acting like a uppity little brat.
 
And honestly, Fluttershy needs to take care of things. What better pet to have than one with so many individual quirks. I think he’s a perfect pet for her. And we have seen his kinder side when he brushed the grass off her face while she was crying… Oh and… At least he as a personality… not many other pets do… Angel actually has intelligence though he can be an ass.

Depends on your definition of “good”.  
To me, Angel is best pet.

Most of the time it’s not that difficult to interpret his and Flutters’s relationship as a form of Stockholm Syndrome on her part.

You know who else brought harm to Fluttershy? Iron Will, Gilda, and in one episode, Pinkie Pie. (I would’ve made a “MY MOM” joke, but I didn’t because that’s been done enough.)

Simple. It has been agreed by the fandom that brining harm to Fluttershy will be a major Hershey. Angel bunny violated that rule, multiple times, and now he shall never be forgiven.
