No, I’m saying that ultimately fashion has 2 avenues.

Creativity/appeal

versus

Aesthetics/form

There are people that study their whole lives in decoration, design, and yes, clothing, to understand the theories and understandings behind what GENERALLY works from a design perspective and have a unique understanding of how colors, shades, and shapes work together with one another.

However, that does not mean that they are “right.” If everyone really enjoyed this sort of style and it was popular and people enjoyed it then it would become it’s own genre open to interpretation and understanding.

Think of late 80s early 90s fashion with the traingles, and the clashing, and the bold colors over whites and primaries.

Most look back on it as silly and weird but at the time it was popular. If the trend had stuck it would become a new kind of fashion that would be well remembered.

This isn’t an exact estimation because there is, as I said, “no accounting for taste.” Instead, it’s trying to match artistic flair, trend, and accepted aesthetic theory with the variables of the time.

It’s far more an art than a science and art can certainly be subjective.

So no, I’m not saying that this sort of design is inherently bad but I would posit someone that designed this would probably not become all that successful in their field.

Well, it’s like they say. “There’s no accounting for taste.” I mean, I could bring up color wheels and actual aesthetic theories but at the end of the day if you like something you like it.

Still, from a design perspective it definitely has alot of “clash” going on. There are colors and designs that compliment one another (in theory) versus those that clash (fight with) one another and these garments definitely clash.

It doesn’t mean you’re stupid or can’t enjoy it. It just means, from a general perspective, that the design is poor.

Again, doesn’t mean your wrong. Enjoyment is subjective.

I dunno, I like the dresses and crowns, I think they look neat.

I guess I’m just stupid.

I agree. The crowns also look very awful. In fact, they are purposefully using incompatible colors with them. Light purple, gold/yellow, dark purple, and mixed with clothes of a “cold red” color. It’s all so jarring and bad. It just looks so ugly.

See, I thought they were made from a 1970’s couch. Still, either way they don’t qualify for “hotel chic.”

They are just so bad and it upsets me because there are some truly beautiful and well designed dresses on this show and here, for Twi’s coronation, it’s like they are wearing couch cushions. It’s awful. Just, such fail.
