Nothing’s wrong with Rarimac, it’s just that the way Rarity acts with most stallions makes it hard to detect any kind of unique shipping fuel. Flirting is part of her personality. She is the designated stallion detector.

He is still a child being paired with a grown mare, so by default Fancity is just better. There is hardly ‘reciprocation’ on her part either.

It’s not bad. Really, there’s not any ship that’s bad (except ShiningSparkle or Applemac, eugh), it’s more of we choose not to ship it, either because we don’t see the problems of their relationship getting solved or just like an alternate pairing more. Personally, I don’t ship Rarimac because I don’t see them as really appreciating the other’s lifestyle; Rarity disparages “dirty work” of the farm while Mac seems uninterested in high class life. I ship them both with those who are more attuned to their life. Fluttershy appreciates nature and hard work like Mac and both prefer quiet, calm lifestyles, and Spike with Rarity because he’s from Canterlot, is shown to be very clever and skilled, and has a long-running crush that Rarity shows some signs of reciprocating. That’s just my two cents, and I don’t suppose I can change anyone’s opinion. But you asked for my opinion in a civil fashion, so I delivered.

He’s right. Fluttermac shippers often tend to overlap with Sparity shippers, though the inverse isn’t true. As for why we don’t stop shipping this ship: why would we? What would make you stop shipping a ship you really enjoy?

What do we have to lose? I’d like to know myself. It’s a cute pairing between two kind, musical ponies who are close to nature and who aren’t as shy around each other as everyone wants to believe. Neither of them are leaving Ponyville anytime soon. It sounds like magic, to me at least.
 
As for RariMac, people just aren’t that into it, maybe because to most shippers, Rarity is already taken by Spike or their OC? I dunno, the support for FlutterMac is just stronger.
