Description
Well, I guess Hell confirmed for canon (at least, in Japanese Equestria XD)
For reference, the original English line (or part of the line that I felt was relevant for comparison purposes) was: “…but if he’s here, then all of the evil creatures that have been imprisoned there could escape…”
And also, I was inspired by >>450299, but I have neither the time nor the patience to make something as elaborate as that, haha
Thanks to Choco Rei-chan for the subs; they’re always great!

I don’t believe anything this guy says. You keep saying random info about the Japanese dub without giving any reliable sources to back it up.
My point is, it seems like they felt they could successfully bring the IDW comics over (which to me, implies the show and/or toys have been successful), and therefore they didn’t need the Akira Himekawa manga anymore. I realize that’s just my interpretation, though, and I could be wrong.
There were no plans to bring the IDW comics over, and they decided to do that due to the end of the first MLP Akira Himekawa manga serialization. It is unknown if a second manga serialization will be announced.
Considering they ordered 52 episodes, and broadcast 26 of them outside the celebrations (if the TV Tokyo logo is anything to go by) I highly doubt that’s the only reason the series was commissioned: I’m sure Bushiroad saw great potential in the show and toys, as well as the merchandise. It must be doing pretty well if they’re bringing over the IDW comics, as I heard originally that there weren’t plans to bring those over (but I could be wrong).
Well, actually, they still call it Tartarus, but instead of leaving it vague as to what it is (except for people who know their Greek mythology, haha) like the English original did, they definitely imply that Tartarus is Equestria’s Hell. At least, that’s the impression I got.
