One thing that gets kinda old with me when it comes to cartoons, is the desire to not change things that they feel works for the show.  
Which I feel can hold back the progress of a show.  
Like the Simpsons, Bart and Lisa have been kids in elementary school for Decades.  
I fear that the same could happen to the CMC. The shows producers may not be willing to let them gain their cutie marks and let them gain in age.  
The idea of them being relatable to girls who are Kate bloomers may be too good for them to let the CMC grow up.

Depends on whether or not the writers are willing to shake up the status quo when not ordered to by Hasbro.
