What’s that supposed to mean?
This is not “traditional artwork”. These are doodles, sketches, whatever.
They may work for a lot of things, but will never feel like a complete artwork.

If you want to stay loyal to your pencil, this is “traditional artwork”:

Now, that is very good and you probably can’t do anything similar… for now.
But, as they say, practice makes things perfect.

You need to move to something more elaborate.
Give your characters a consistent anatomy.
Refine the lines.
Add some shading.
And some background.

Seriously, art is a whole world in front of you.
You surely don’t want to stop at the doorstep.

@Ponynstuff320 (Toon-n-crossover
‘Amazing’ is a very subjective view. Even if you don’t regard yourself as being amazing, someone else might.

Regardless of that, you shouldn’t be holding yourself up to that high a standard all the time. It’s not healthy to think that you should only be producing the best of the best in terms of quality. Many artists think that the things they draw turn out looking awful, regardless of the actual quality. It’s just a hyper-critical attitude they have toward their own work. I will admit your art isn’t the greatest, but that doesn’t mean you can’t improve, and it definitely doesn’t mean you should stop trying.

Please don’t give up on art just because you don’t think you’re amazing, or because what you think what you produce is shit. If you don’t think you’re amazing, then work on the quality of your art. Make yourself amazing. You won’t get there quickly or easily, but if you work hard, you will get there.

Oh, about that Sonic crossover being downvoted: That’s normal. Seriously, don’t be bothered by it. Almost half the things under the Sonic tag have been downvote bombed, even if their total score doesn’t actually reach into the negatives.

As for the downvotes on this image? Every image in the database has a downvote or two. Or it could just be that people think you’re looking for attention with this image, which also tends to attract downvotes.

Sonic crossovers are downvoted because they’re Sonic crossovers, not because of the style. Unless they’ve very good.

Yeah, you’re kind of putting on a melodrama. Some downvotes aren’t worth it.

Your art isn’t half bad. On the contrary, it’s a good start. But you should move over it. You don’t want to do pencil doodles forever, do you?

Try inking your stuff - digitally, for the better - and give it some color. And remember that painting programs can be hard to use at their best, so experience counts there too.

So, stop your whining right now and do as I said. I’m sure you - and we - will see some solid improvements in a matter of weeks.

Oh, and another advice: *watch some livestreams and see what other artists do. You’ll learn a lot.

I know perfection isn’t the case, but what I meant to say is that, am I amazing? This artwork is a piece of garbage to me Looks at 3 thumbs down

I don’t know, my creative ideas that I’ve uploaded here in the past is horrible. So horrible that I’ve made a Sonic MLP crossover and it has 25 *approx thumbs down. And that injured my mental pride.

Basically, I’m kind of considering on give up on art because of shit like that, and art like what I’ve posted. I’ve posted this here because I felt like it. I’m…. mourning myself of not being “Amazing”

So, I dunno… people told me that “I’m amazing” or, “You should be do commissions” which failed miserably! But I don’t know at all if they’re trolls or not. Mostly trolls, so I go along with it by being naive. But eh, still am not feeling well at all

If you guys could say OTHERWISE then please message me on Derpibooru via account for my skype thingy or you guys could post it in here if you like…

Perfect? What’s this about perfect?

Nothing any artist ever makes is really considered “finished” by them.

But hey, views come from serious hard work. It comes from having entertained and impressed your audience. And doing that tends to require some skill.

My advice, look up some tutorials, and take what they tell you to heart. Unless your writing is god-tier stuff (in which case, it might be better to stick to writing) people won’t pay much mind to art that looks like doodling.

But once you’ve achieved a competent beginner’s repertoire of techniques, start thinking of imagery or stories YOU would want to see being made.

What drove everything I did, and got me noticed, was that I provided something people were legitimately interested in seeing, and that nobody else had provided them yet.

Filling a void is good, but filling a void you feel a personal stake in is even better, because the drive to see it happen will inform the quality of your work. You can’t just imitate something someone else has been doing and hope to compare. That’s when you just look like you’re whoring for views, trying to do what others have done, and not do it as well.

Be the only game in town for what you give…

No wonder you feel this way, you don’t even get what drawing is eevn about! These famous artists did not start drawing thinking to themselves “AW YE GONNA GET ALL THE FAVS!”
No, they drew thinking “I like drawing”.
You are only worsening your chances of being liked if you try to only draw to get popular. So what you want, enjoy doing it. The being popular and liked part comes later, and on it’s own.

So long as you have the motivation to keep drawing, you’re an artist.

Oh almost forgot, you mention being “perfect”, but none of your favourite artists is perfect at all. There is no such thing as perfect art.

Since when did one have to be perfect in order to be an artist? Art should be a continual quest for improvement in something you enjoy, climbing an infinite summit because it’s there. Others may be further along, but that doesn’t mean you’re not climbing.
MrMario

Do you konw what all these big artists have in common? They made art because they loved to make it not because they wanted fans.

What I am trying to say is that your main focus should be on having fun at drawing and improving, not geting fans to like your art, because art is not about becoming famous or having a group of followers. Art is about expressing one’s feelings and ideas and doing what you want to do without worrying about the opinions of others.
Sure not everybody will like what you draw, but there will always be naysayers who will criticize your art and no artist was or will be spared. But you always should stay true to yourself and do what you like!
By the way your friends are right your artwork is awesome and even if you make mistakes don’t be so hard on yourself and remeber that practice is the key to become a great artist! (That is what all good artists will tell you believe me)
Stay true to yourself and keep up the good work, promise me this!

why
Nobody is perfect. Just because you don’t have many fans doesn’t mean that your work isn’t worthwhile, or that people don’t enjoy it. There are always going to be people more successful or popular than you, that’s just inevitable. Your art can and will improve, you just need to keep at it. And there’s always point to being an artist, as long as you enjoy the act of creating.

Please don’t beat yourself up like this. I’m sorry if it hurts. A lot of good things do, at times. But it will get better. You just have to try.
