11 didn’t wear it all the time. It was a special occasion thing that came up periodically. It’d be like putting 3D glasses on 10. It’d make sense but it’s hardly necessary.

My point in all that was simply that I don’t know he would die of old age at the age he claimed to be. Because he’s been 11 about as long as he was 1.

Having read the TV Tropes article for “Time And The Rani” - I realize was off by 4 years, Seven claimed he and the Rani were both nine-hundred-fifty-three years old, though how he noticed that she used that as a password is anyone’s guess.
 
Although, it’s been a while since I’ve seen that scene, so I could be wrong about “953” being a password.

I believe in Seven’s very first story - “Time And The Rani” - he claimed to be 957 years old, as the number “957” was a password the Rani used, or some such.

That’s where things get kind of fuzzy. The second Doctor claimed to be 450 at one point (I believe it was victoria he told) so it would have to less than that to die of old age.
 
However, in the episode “the end of time” 10 claimed to be 906 and in “flesh and stone” 11 claimed to be 907. so that’s a good start mark. Then in “a town called mercy” 11 claimed to 1200+ … so he would have to be getting to old age by then …
 
that being said 3 once suggested he’s several thousand years old.
 
Which goes back to rule 1: the doctor lies.  
I don’t know how much I trust his age. 6 said he was 963 but 10 and 11 both claimed early nine hundreds. So yeah …

The First Doctor regenerated because he was so unbelievably old and thus couldn’t keep his body going anymore. He effectively died of old age and had to regenerate.

Well, he’s been around 900 years old since his sixth or seventh incarnation, so yeah, not necessarily 200 years.
 
Since the Eleventh Doctor spent 200 years looking for Young!River, that goes sailing out the door.

He was the 11th doctor for almost 400 years. 10 was early 900’s when he changed and at one point he said he was “more than 1200” years old.
 
So I don’t think it’s him not staying in one form long enough to get old.

background pony: I’ve always interpreted it as him losing his edge- He isn’t staying alive in each form long enough to get old.

The Fourth Doctor is so silly as a pony. I don’t like how 11st is represented here, though.

@Background Pony, of course he has been getting younger, he says it in the show! He used to be all serious and wanted to act like he was an old man, but the older he got, the more childish it made him, and the younger his regenerations have been.

Is it me or has the Doctor been getting younger?
