Spike sweetie you look
Well, a grown-up Sweetie Belle would naturally look a lot like her older sister.
I can only see that scene as “I really like her mane!” and not “My whole romantic attachment has shifted!”
Hmm, maybe Spike’s only attracted to really fancy looking hair?
I think I cracked the puzzle! :P
Spike: “I’ve got an extra spike.”
It seems to be the mane. When Twilight had Rarity’s hair style, he was ogling her with hearts, too.
Honestly, I just don’t get most shipping in the fandom/show at all. I wish there was something I can like. All the popular ones I really scratch my head on.
Spike falls for her at first sight because she’s just that beautiful. That’s pretty much it. Whether he’s now also attracted to her personality as well is arguable, but I would think he is.
Granted, I still think it’s a kid’s puppy-love crush, but I’m used to being in the minority when it comes to opinions on what’s going on in the show.
I see the problem yeah.
Fair enough. I happen to see the chemistry between the two, but if you can’t that is quite alright. Besides, don’t want to chew your ear off talking about my ships. ;)
My biggest pet peeve when it comes to people writing older Sweetie is that they make her Rarity 2.0. Unless they are watching a different show than me, that is absurd. I think Sweetie is a lot more like Pinkie than her sister: Fun, Sensitive, filled with energy and more than a little scatterbrained at times. Why I mention this is because in like most of the Spikebelle stories I’ve read, Spike is rejected by Rarity only to go out with older Sweetie, who is portrayed like Rarity 2.0. I’d just wish people would portray Sweetie in the shipping like how she is in the show.
Re: ages, I always assumed that the Crusaders and Spike were all about the same age. But that’s just me.
I’m trying to figure out the chemistry though. I’m trying to figure out the connection between Spike and Rarity. Is it her “generosity” he likes because they don’t have much in common? I don’t know… something about it never clicked with me.
@Background Pony #EEF5
Rarity herself has improved in character. She’s obviously not really caring about getting dirty as much as she used to. Fashion and career are top priority and that’s good.
I actually think she’s improved since season 1.
Remember party of one, where spike took out her garbage, and instead of thanking him she insulted him. Come season 4, while he carries all her heavy bags, she actually buys him a “carrot dog” as a way of showing appreciation.
Frankly, Rarity treats Spike better than most of the cast as it stands. Their interactions may be platonic, but Rarity has shown that she cares about Spike. She actually pays attention to him and is gracious towards his actions of kindness. If Spike was only interested in Rarity for her looks, he wouldn’t have given up his fire Ruby.
Besides, what would Sweetie see in Spike, exactly? What would Spike see in Sweetie? Y’know, besides the sister of his former crush, which would lead to some unfortunate implications all on its own.
I wouldn’t mind seeing an ep where Spike interacts with the CMC more. Of course, shipping younger generations right now is kinda futile since they really have a life ahead of them. Let them be kids. I guess I wouldn’t ship them right now as opposed to their future selves. This in itself is cute.
What exactly does Spike see in Rarity besides looks? She doesn’t treat him with respect as much as she used to.
Just curious, but how does Spikebelle fix any of the factors that hinder Sparity?
Different Species: Check
Different Ages: Check (We have no confirmation of the ages, but we can infer Rarity is older than Spike and Sweetie is younger than Spike. By how much is the question?).
Different Lifespan: Check (Sweetie will only live a little bit longer than Rarity).
Interactions: Strike against Spikebelle (Besides the picture and Just for Sidekicks, Sweetie and Spike have never really interacted).
I don’t want to disregard your shipping. It’s just that a lot of Spikebelle shippers act like it doesn’t have the same problems that Sparity does.
Good to hear. Never cared for it myself. SpikeBelle is something that clicked with me since ACW. I never saw the appeal of Sparity considering so many factors. Not to say Spike or Rarity don’t deserve good ships, just not with each other. That’s just me though.
That ship was being kept afloat almost entirely by Jan. Now that Don’t Mine At Night has become passé, all the other ships involving SB have started to recover.
Or ButtonBelle.
Either that or SpikeBloom fans
Well, looks like the Sparity fans are here…
