I can guarantee you it’s not the “intended audience” making those complaints.

For me though I wouldn’t bother complaining about that, for one it wouldn’t change anything. There’s plenty of places to buy good/show accurate stuff anyway, just not from Hasbro.

@Techy Pony
The same bronies who complain endlessly about how the toys aren’t show-accurate or how the ponies should have molded manes or how unappealing the “So Soft” toys are or how lame the dialog in the talking toys is? (Though that last one really is a problem.)

Truth is we really don’t know, but being far more enamored with the show, it’s easy to see that it’s possible bronies are the bigger (financial) part of the viewers.

I’ve never understood how some people (whether old or young) have difficulty identifying gender in mlp, they’re just so obvious, even the ones that don’t follow all the norms.

I undestand that, but I still don’t think bronies are the bigger audience, they just seem like that sense they’re more outspoken about their fandom while little girls/kids are more casual.

Funny thing is, my 5 year old nephew actually likes to watch the show with his sister, and likes Rainbow Dash, because he thinks she’s a boy.

@Beau Skunky
The problem with that is it’s perfectly true if you switch “kids” and “brony”.

My point was not every kid buys the merch’, and while some do, there’s plenty of brony’s that do, as well.

Little Girls/boys are still the majority of the viewers of the show.

Also, a bit unrelated, for some reasons, the imagines under the tag “Target Demographic”, makes me feel fuzzy inside. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know.
Radiant Heart

Pretty sure the target demographic gets their share of love :) Some of the last year’s official merchandise, not specifically targetted at bronies, is pretty nice - I personally love the big Funrise plushies.

I beg to differ, it only seems that way ‘cause you’ve only been mostly exposed to bronies who are passionate about the show, while little girls are a li’l less outspoken about it, but still love it, and the toys. (Even if they aren’t 100% show accurate.) The IDW comic artist even said at comic book signings, and stuff they mostly see little kids come up to them, believe it, or not. Even ones in “Derpy” T-shirts, and such, as well.

Most bronies I know barely ever buy the merch’, or toys personally. So I doubt they go around buying say the dollar-store puzzles, coloring books, and stuff like my niece does.
My niece knows almost everything about the show, and likes explaining things to me about it, and such.

Funny thing is, though she did complain at the store that the Applejack toy doesn’t have her hat like in the show. So maybe it wouldn’t hurt for Hasbro to at least give her the hat.

@Beau Skunky
I haven’t bought any of those either, though I would be perfectly fine buying the IDW comics. But those are comics, like the show on paper, they’re not crappy toys that look good from one angle if you’re lucky.

The FUNKO figures are pretty good, it’s sad though that Hasbro themselves can’t make anything that good themselves. (Toy wise)

Though considering my original point, given those things are fairly expensive, and probably mostly bought by bronies and not little girls, and plenty of bronies do buy brushables, build-a-bear plushies etc. it’s very possible most of the mlp franchise is indeed supported by bronies rather than little girls.

Yes, but official merch’ like the FUNKO figurines/collectables, and IDW comic series, and such are still licensed, and approved by Hasbro, even if they didn’t make them.

I still haven’t bought one MLP thing other than the S1 DVD yet. I’d like to have something like this though:

I thought about that after I types it. I’ve not bought a single crappy mlp toy they’ve made. Any merch I’ve bought was not made by Hasbro.

They hardly seem forgotten, considering that the widespread popularity of the products they are holding is the reason why Build-a-Bear made those products.
