The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

I barely watch TV as it is. My Saturdays are Ponies in the morning and Space Dandy at night and a Super Sentai/Kamen Rider hour in between everyday… Still waiting for Super Megaforce.

I don’t watch too much anime to begin with, but when I’m trying to find interesting films of any kind there’s bound to be anime in there somewhere. Usually it’s some surrealist/existential stuff like Serial Experiments Lain.

The end of the hand drawn era is when I start to lose interest. I just appreciate animation so much more when I think about how it was created. Also, stuff from the ’80s has that great gritty quality that is just so charming.

Space Dandy is amazeballs. Just…just amazeballs. It’s like a wound-up Cowboy Bebop without the noire element, and it’s got animation that makes love to your eyeballs.

Yeah it got red-hot, but I expect things to cool off since it went downhill in the last 13 of the season. Sorry in advance for the rant that’s about to happen.
On top of the superb action the storyline was well done in the first 13 episodes, the massive jumps in time were weird but they made it work. The last 13 episodes fell flat on storyline and had some of the worst plot progression I’ve seen, it’s a freaking game of cat-and-mouse that ends the season with a poor excuse of a cliffhanger. The action scenes were hyped so well, but other than the first titan battle, they didn’t not live up to the billing.

In my experience, “lol AS” dismissal is a sign of elitist snobbery.

Nothing I’ve heard of lately has appealed to me much, that’s all. Maybe I’ll go see if the original Bubblegum Crisis is available somewhere.

I’ll see about watching that at least once.

I just gave up on AS when it seemed like all they ran was Inuyasha and endless piles of FMA all the damn time. Both of those shows lost my interest quickly, and Death Note didn’t appeal to me at all.

You know what? I thought that anime picture was from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

I love how most everyone here is only talking about shows that are or have been run on Adult swim / toonami and claiming they know good anime from bad.

To be honest, aside from Pokémon, and Kirby Of The Stars, the only genuine Anime I liked was Card Captor Sakura, but then again I live in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, México, just wanted to share this…..

Now that i think about it… it was a LONG time since i saw anime on any channel in my country.
The last time i saw one was on Toonami but i cna barely remember even what it was about.
Something about a guy who could turn into a Mecha and fight godzilla sized spiders.

After that its a LONG streak of NOOOOOTHING with pokemon at the end (the pokemans will last FOREVER).
Funny considering japanimation was so common 20 years ago that i would randomly stumble upon Sailor Moon or Slayers while browsing the channels… fuck now i want to watch Slayers again.

Well, Japan was inspired by disney when they made the style that would evolve into the manga art style we all know through out the years.

Funny thing is that shows like Avatar is inspired by anime and I believe that MLP:FIM might be inspired by anime or at least the elements of anime in the artstyle.
