Description
of course, Xros Hunters is worse, but that barely counts as it’s own series

First 26 were decent, yes, but the first 13 episodes (the Digimon Emperor arc) were the highest point of the series. After that, they were pretty much throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck. Back then, I liked Digimon 02, but now I look back and see what a damn mess it really was.
Search for “digimon fusion toy”
Well dang, it was the only image of it I could find right now, sorry.
Well do an Google image and it sould be about the 11th image, or with Bing image and it’s 6th.
…Still giving me that “hotlinked” error image…
Here is the url, but it’s big.

…I can’t see the U.S. image for some reason…
Here, have a look.
Japanese “Xros Loader”, a kind of DX one, color screen and customizable digimon team.
Japanese “Fusion Loader”, the cheaper one put out later and thought to be what we would get, like the older ones.
And the U.S. one.
Ya, you can do the fusions with some of them, something that was done with same of the Japanese one, nice.
@Jarkes
Ya, but this one you put the card with come with the other toys on it and press some buttons for sounds, it’s not anything like any of the older one ether, more like cheaper version of the Mgaforce morpher.
Par for the course at this point. They don’t straight up import the Japanese toys anymore. They make their own, somehow inferior products instead. …Well, okay, apparently the “Zordbuilder” thing can be pretty cool (and it’s at least better than the Megazord toys BOA was churning out between Mystic Force and RPM), but the Japanese toys are still better overall quality.
The action figures are pretty cool from what I’ve seen, though.
They were basically used as living batteries for Arresterdramon Superior Mode. Hell, they barely had any involvement at all aside from destroying up a few mooks.
So once again this means Tagiru gets the spotlight, which is really disappointing because Tagiru is the worst protagonist in Digimon history. He’s basically all of the most annoying traits of Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash in one character, but without any of the depth.
Ah, yes. That one had a chance to have such an epic “crisis crossover,” with all of the old protagonists teaming up with the new protagonist (though not without the typical “let’s you and him fight” situation first) to kick some ass… and they totally blew it.
Or so I’ve been told, anyway…
…Is that one on the left Kerpymon from “Hurricane Touchdown?” …Huh. I mean, I know they like to reuse Digimon in different contexts in each series, but since I never really watched Frontier beyond the initial Duskmon arc, I didn’t know they used that one…
Ten years ago, I thought the final battle was epic, but when I look back, I realize that all he did was stand there and get his ass kicked. Once he got into the Digital World, where he was supposedly stronger, all he did was constantly blow the Digi-Destined’s Partners away, with dark energy!
Seriously, after slaughtering his own minions–which, surprisingly, WAS NOT CENSORED IN THE ENGLISH DUB–I expected MaloMyotismon to put up more of a fight. But no, he just stands around and let the good guys perform target practice on his face!
Even after he was accidentally blasted into the Digital World (see ‘Nice Job Breaking It, Hero’ on TV Tropes), where he received that dreaded power boost BlackWarGreymon hinted at before, he just stood there! He stood there, ranting about spreading the Power of Darkness throughout both worlds, while unleashing dark energy like a hurricane, to ward off his attackers! All the while, the Dark Spore children were buffing him with their negativity and self-loathing! Speaking of which, thank God MaloMyotismon set his plan into motion BEFORE the rise of emo subculture, he would have been unstoppable!
And then, he’s beaten because the Dark Spore children suddenly decided to stop being negative and his body starts crumbling. All I can think about is Yugioh Abridged, where Marik yells out…
“NOOOO, WHAT KIND OF CHEESY, CARE BEARS BULLSHIT ENDING IS THIIIIS?!?!”
And then, there’s the sappy-ass, “everybody-in-the-world-gets-a-Digimon-and-everybody-is-happy” ending….
Well the one thing you have to think of, you are talking to a guy that has a medi-evil nut mother…so my mileage on the experience “duke” is different from others
All the did was take out the “Ygg” part. Guess they thought the VAs wouldn’t be able to pronounce it easily.
Not in anything I’ve ever seen. When I hear of a duke, I imagine him looking something like this:
That’s kind of the image that European Royalty has had in American media for the past century or so. It may not be 100% accurate, but it’s the way we see it as.
Taking this into account, “Dukemon” sounds kind of lame, and not at all like something a warrior digimon would be.
(If you’re curious, the person depicted here is Leopold, Duke of Lorraine)
Duke University and Dukes of Hazzard are far more common American popular culture then a stuffy noble in a powdered wig.
Books, medi-eval movies, plays, dramas, comics, etc, etc
Depends on how you handle it. If you cover say, several sets of guilds, tell the story from several angles that won’t connect until later, then maybe.
Like, 3 pairs of rivaling guilds dealing with tournaments, and all 3 deal with some evil guild that might just enjoy killing digimon off, saying digimon are just weapons or something..
We focus on one pair of guilds through say..one season, or a certain number of episodes. Things seem to settle down after one of the two guilds wins a big tourney, and the bad guild seems to run off.
Then we shift to another pair of guilds, twist things up by having the evil one show up again and cause distrust between these two new guilds. Making them believe the other is working for the evil guild, or something. As an added twist, no this does not get resolved, and even when one of the two rival guilds wins a big tourney..word spreads that supposedly that guild was working for the evil one.
Then we shift to a third duo of guilds, which having heard of what happened to the second pair, team up from the get-go and be wary of the evil guild’s possible presence. This backfires, the evil guild causes internal conflict in the united guild, leaving part of them to join the evil guild thing they’re good…and the remainder of the rival guilds are small enough in number to make them merge into one guild.
…And then my brain fizzles out on the connecting part after that. Sorta.
First winner guild would be the hero one that believes the second winner guild isn’t really evil, second was set up to draw attention away from the real evil guild and cause problems with trust that’ll distract the other two ‘winner’ guilds, the third one’s gonna be that harsh one that’ll have a hard time avoiding outright ‘getting back at’ the second guild thinking they’re the evil one.
As for how this could all progress at the final leg of the tale…not sure, brain’s failing me. But as much as I’ve done here already? I think this is plenty to show a way it could work.
Really? Since when has “Duke” ever been associated with that in American popular culture?
