That’s my running theory. Twilight has to know where exactly she’s teleporting to. I imagine in a busy place like Manehattan, she’d not want to teleport inside another pony, or something like a wall or object.

Hmm… It seems to me that adding the idiot ball towards Twilight’s ability to teleport was a move to keep her from the spotlight. That would most definitely generate silly complaints too. This is a Rarity episode after all.
 
It would be easier to teleport Rarity to her destination, but might also possibly deviate from Rarity’s focus.
 
Twilight also might need to know where she’s teleporting before she actually does it. Knowing Twi, she’s probably never set hoof near a fashion show in Manehattan.

Except that Twilight’s status as a princess is a physical trait, ignoring that is almost as bad as not focusing on her character at all.

I have mixed feelings on this subject. I don’t really want the princess thing to be brought up constantly…but realistically, I sort of think that it should. There’s really no way to go about it without making something feel awkward.

Or you know, you or RD could fly Rarity over there. Since you both possess wings. Just a thought.

Twilight didn’t teleport or get a taxi for her because she wanted to watch Rarity struggle.

Twilight will probably do Princess stuff in her own focus episodes, there’s no reason to draw attention away from the main character of other episodes with her having big “IMA PRINCESS” scenes .

Anyone wanna bet there would be tons complaining she’s abusing her powers if she used that to her advantage?
 
Besides, the horn/wings combo doesn’t seem to stand out as much without any fancy jewelry, at least not for Twilight.

Manehattan is an Earth Pony city, and Earth ponies are republican, unlike those feudal monarchist Unicorns or militaristic Pegasi.
 
So no, they don’t give a damn if you’re a Princess or not.

Apparently Twilight will get to do something princessy in a later episode, but we’ll wait and see.

The coronation was pretty big news, so I’m guessing they just don’t give a shit. Remember, this is New York.

I think the question is: Does anypony in Manehattan even know about Twilight and her friends’ past heroics? It seems like the big city, so far removed from the countryside and Canterlot, didn’t ever get the news about what they did. So maybe nopony gives a shit. They just think Purple Smart is some weird looking hybrid pony.
