See the difference? The first one while not having the hugest resemblance to the parents kind of does and in the show, the fillies dont look exactly like their parents. The second one is just a recolor of Soarin and is just that: Soarin with some rainbow high lights.
Patchwork children is a pretty common sight in this fandom if you visit DeviantArt enough. People even go as far to make their coats a gradient of their parents colors or even worse, spots. I’ve seen it with every single ship but the reason you’re seeing it here is because the background pony who uploads all this SoarinDash stuff is going for quantity over quality.
Yeah, they make their kids /similar/, not exact copies like with these kids. The artist could have taken the coat or the eye color of Rainbow Dad and applied it here.
You dislike it because its shipping artist do the exact same thing every single other shipping artist does by drawing their kids to look similar to their parents? Okeyyyyy.

Plus, it just seems like a fangirl crush, and sounds way too sueish to have one of your idols ALSO be your boyfriend/husband. And I agree with VermiLLion, the children look too much like RD.

Not once, several times during season 1. Anyone who said this wasn’t paying attention. Just because they didn’t speak on screen doesn’t mean they didn’t interact which involved speaking.
She hung out with him at the end of Sonic Rainboom. You don’t hang with someone and not speak with them.
Oh but hey, this fandom takes two random ponies who never were on the same screen together and puts them as lovers. What did I expect?
