Also, at least she always has a reverse spell memorized (except for the very few times she cast a spell on the spot as a possible solution) which I don’t know about you but that seems like a level-headed and thought through plan to help mitigate any problems that may arise should a spell have adverse effects. I’d call that responsible and intelligent.

….sooooo? Why should she have to come up with a solution that doesn’t involve magic? She is the most level-headed and intelligent member of the team, that doesn’t mean she’s perfect. Even Einstein screwed up bad. Are you saying you don’t like her simply because she doesn’t meet some arbitrary expectations you put on her?
 
I don’t feel like going through and counting, but of all the episodes, very few were solved using her magic, of those many required the use of magic and could not have been solved without it. Even when she was the main contributor towards the solution she didn’t use magic as the solution much of the time. What about in “Princess Twilight Sparkle pt 1 & 2”, if anything giving up magical power was the solution. In castle mania her level headedness is what solved the problem, not magic. In power ponies, they basically all used “magic” (or some form of enhanced abilities) so solve the problem, in fact Twi’s magic was drastically reduced.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with magic, I’m sure Celestia solves everything with magic. You make it sound like you don’t like her because she uses magic to solve problems, when magic is one of her innate abilities. You aren’t complaining that Fluttershy screws things up using her normal abilities, and RD screwing things up using her wings etc.
 
Of course you might see Twilight screw up more and disregard “rules” more often, she has more screen time, is often the main focus, and is generally given the role of the one coming up with the plans to fix the problems. If RD were the leader then she’d be the screw up? Do you get it?

I hate it because she never thinks things through. She always tries to solve everything with magic, and when that doesn’t work she often tries to use more magic.

I love mad scientist Twi often as well. (she is my favorite after all) However, you (and me) and Mayojar77 have far different feelings about Twi causing shenanigans. You like it, he kind of hates her for it….so I’m not quite sure you guys actually agree.

Twilight Sparkle is my favorite pony and I happen to agree with @Mayojar77 here. Part of the reason I like Twilight is that she has a ruthless streak in her that lets her pull off these kind of shenanigans in the first place. Every show needs a Mad Scientist, after all.

Better than twiface, but not quite as smug as smugdash. Twilight still has to practice a bit.

And there are also people around here who are probably far, far worse in their vocal hatred for Twilicorn than you (Deadpon3 and Klonoahedgehog spring to mind, and the latter user basically rage quit a few months back).
 
Heck, there’s one user over on EQD by the name of Hamadryad who thinks 100% seriously that Twilight needs to be killed off to “restore balance to the characterization and world of the show.” I’m DEAD serious.

Like ORF and his irrational hatred of Spike on the grounds that he has an infinitely higher chance with Rarity than he does.

Sure you can dislike a character, but to be so damn vocal about it with crappy reasons is rather annoying. Frankly if he didn’t like her for her being a princess I’d find that a better reason then for what I’ve heard from him.

He didn’t, he was at his worst just before she was made an alicorn, that was when I got on him about always bringing up his hate for her in unrelated post.

And at least it’s because he has an actual dislike for the character (which is entirely possible; everyone has characters whom they dislike) and not simply because she’s a princess now (I don’t think he ever really cared for Twi all that much even BEFORE she got her wings).
