But Twilight already established they were rare in central Equestria. There were a few visiting crystal ponies in Canterlot several months after it appeared, but not a single griffon in Cloudsdale since Gilda was, oddly, sent to a pegasi flight camp there. Not a single one at the best flyers competition.

And while its not canon, IDW did say the Griffon Empire is semi-canon.

It’s only that way out of necessity. Cloudsdale’s origin was simply as a semi-self-sufficient weather factory, complete with accommodations for workers. Over time, more and more of Equestria’s weather production was outsourced to Cloudsdale, and out of necessity it grew in size. Eventually, it stopped counting as a factory with an apartment complex attached and became the city it’s known as today. Still, it’s origin as a weather factory continues to shine through to this day.

Rewatching “Sweet & Elite”, I noticed that there are a fair number of Earth-pony nobility. It’s my personal headcanon that Equestria is still largely segregated despite Celestia’s best efforts to fix the problem. Ponyville is the rare exception. It has an Earth-pony majority, but they don’t really have anything against the Unicorn & Pegasus minorities living there, at least not anymore (except for Winter Wrap-Up, which is functionally anti-Unicorn).

Of course the most racist city by far is Cloudsdale. Why wouldn’t it be? It’s 100% Pegasus.

This actually makes you wonder how unusual Ponyville is for being an Earth pony village with a sizable Unicorn and Pegasus population. Do ponies still practice segregation? In Cloudsdale they’d have to, but how about places like Canterlot or Manehatten?

@Cyborg_pony
Cloudsdale is made of clouds. Earth Ponies and Unicorns simply can’t live there.
Also, did you not notice the fact that nobody there questioned the presence of two of each of the remaining races just walking into their places of business until something fucked up horribly? That kinda implies that they get a lot of tourists already.
