Yeah, but to be fair, Nintendo had nothing to do with making the Power Glove, it was a third-party accessory, and officially-licensed, but that’s it.
The idea was pretty clever, it just wasn’t implemented very well. The technology was too clunky and it was trying to bodge motion-based controls into software that mostly wasn’t suited to it. Some of the ideas eventually made it into the Wii (the position sensing, for instance - done with ultrasound on the Power Glove but infra-red on the Wii), so Nintendo did get it right much further down the line.
Yeah, I hear it wasn’t as good as the movie made it out to be.
Surprisingly it was made by Mattel.
But Really.
Hows is it ruined? :P
Besides, the original scene ironically wasn’t even meant to comedic. It was comedic due to the narm charm.
Li’l trivia: Super Mario Bros. 3 debuted in this movie, and on the PlayChoice-10 Nintendo arcade machines shortly before coming to the NES in America.
