What we learned: Scoots got no wing power, but top tier stamina.
Scootaloo pulled two ponies all the way to the Crystal Empire and wasn’t even tired when she got there.
There’s nothing that says Sweetie got any magic problems, since no other unicorns in her age uses magic either.
In this series, if there’s a distinct lack of information regarding it’s state of being true or not, then it’s true.
It’s the same thing, though.
The only reason nobody complains about Luna being real is because there wouldn’t be a show if she wasn’t.
Eh, maybe because it came out of left field.
But there was nothing in the show to contradict it, so no problem with me.
@Pawny.
I would laugh if that happened.
Seriously, I bet that would freak out the fandome more then if it turned out she couldn’t fly
The others weren’t subjects of popular book series, I guess.
But the episode was fun, so I didn’t care.
I think it’s implied that pegasus wings don’t work like in real life.
I don’t get it either.
How is Daring Do being real a game changer? Supposedly fictitious events turn out to be true all the time in this show.
All in all, it kept me entertained and I think it’s Polsky’s best episode to date.
This weeks episode I have high hopes for. {It seems like it’ll be dealing with a ‘touchy’ subject. Hopefully, it’ll be done with tact.}
…and if that’s how they explain it, then I will accept it on some level (personally, I think that’s a little convoluted).
Alright, fair enough.
Scootaloo can fly for a very short amount of time, but she can’t propel herself of the ground; she is more like a glider than a jet. I don’t see why it would have been relevant to tell the reason for her disability before, since today’s episode wants to dedicate the entire episode length to explore the reason and effects. Scootaloo hasn’t really thought about her condition until now, because she most likely thought that she could fly as she got older, but now that every other pegasus her age can fly, everyone starts to notice – including Scootaloo.
@greaterlimits
I find speculation fun, so I don’t see it as pointless.
… that’s not how avian wings work. It’s not just a case of power = flight.
An avian wing has to provide sufficient lift to counter the mass of the body, and it has to provide sufficient thrust to maintain the speed necessary to provide that lift.
Scoots’ wings are capable of providing the thrust necessary to propel her, this much is obvious. They apparently aren’t capable of providing lift. For whatever reason that is, whether it’s size, shape or anything else, they aren’t capable of providing lift sufficient to allow her to fly.
So there’s your “why”.
How toyetic can ya get?
This. All of this.
I agree.
Look, I am not saying that the topic of disability should be avoided, just that if they want to do it justice, then they should do it without contrivance.
Why give a pegasus a scooter anyway if they’re going to be able to fly. It’s like giving the Flash a bike.
That’s impossible.
There are hc that she can, and hc that she can’t.
They have to pick between them.
