Ok everyone. We got one data point that supports our hypothesis that McCarthy is indeed referring to episode with songs.
We know for a fact that Episode 9 (Pinkie Apple Pie) will have a song.
If we are correct, this means Power Ponies will not have a song, and Bats! and Rarity Takes Manehattan will have a song.
Stay tuned, we shall reconvene here when those episodes air.
Season 1:
2, 3, 7, 9, 11, 14, 17, 18, 21, 23, 26
Season 2:.
7 [33], 9 [35], 11 [37], 13 [39], 15 [41], 17 [43], 18 [44], 25 [51], 26 [52].
Season 3:
1 [53], 2 [54], 4 [56], 8 [60], 13 [65] (but that last episode had seven songs)
So if Meghan’s numbers means “episodes with songs in them” - which seems likely - that means we’re gonna get a bunch in the second quarter of the season, and then almost nothing at all until close to the end.
Then, when the time comes, they will jump out and beat the everloving doubt out of you as if you were a terrible doubting pinata filled with candy of doubt!
And then?
Then you will beg for more.
I stand corrected it was indeed episode 7, but I think my point still stands.

Actually, we are getting another musical episode, so I guess a big chunk of the songs went there.
They said there will be songs, and I believe them.
What I was worried about was that there might be too many songs. There is totally such a thing.
After MMC, and then the hype they built up. Saying season 4 was gonna be like a songpocalypse. I was seriously worried they’d cram a song into every freaking episode.
Glad my fears were unfounded.
