That wouldn’t be too hard, I think. At least three of the Mane Six behaved pretty badly as well; had we only that episode to judge them on, well… Just stick with making him spoiled and emphasise his cowardice, but give some positive scenes to balance things out a bit.
 
I still like the idea of having him come to Ponyville to learn how to be a real prince and getting “help” from Rainbow Dash (who pushes him into dangerous/embarrassing situations). That way, you could show him a bit more positively while also putting him through the grinder and have a number of morals to choose from (be supportive, not pushy, for instance)—everybody ends up happy!

If they can give a good explanation for him being somewhat decent, I’d support that. His cameo in “Sweet and Elite” hints that maybe he’s patching things over with Rarity. (Or she could still find him contemptible but played nice for the sake of status.)

Well, that’s a matter of opinion, though any humor from him stemmed from his being a vain, self-centered, wimpy snob. Which is what he was designed to be, so as a character, he works. I wouldn’t want to know someone like him iRL, but I’d enjoy seeing him return to the show.

If only for seeing people’s heads explode, I want him to return to the show and be somewhat decent. Because who knows? Maybe I’m wrong and they won’t explode.

Plus, as hated as he is by much of the fandom, I’d bet he’d be hated even more if he weren’t a vain dick. He’d be another waifu thief, and a solid kick in the nuts to every Sparity shipper ever. Both outcomes are actually pretty amusing.
