Which means that eventually, Apple Bloom and Diamond Tiara are going to be business partners. Someone seriously needs to write this.

I don’t know ,from what we’ve seen Granny smith and Filthy appear to be good friends and he seems to respect the apples as he forces Diamond into participating in their rituals, it think it just a co-operative mutual partnership that allows them to make a better profit with the zap apples than either could alone but just click on a couple of pics with him in it and you’ll find someone arguing about business strategies and economics of apples.

Technically, Filthy didn’t make his fortune selling Granny Smith’s Zap-Apple Jam. It was his father(?) Stinkin’ Rich that did. In other words Filthy inherited a good chunk of his fortune. Though to be fair, Filthy is a ruthless businessman in his own right, so no doubt he has managed to build onto what he was given.
 
You know what they say about the rich - The first generation gets the wealth, the second generation maintains it, and the third generation spends it.

Rewatch the episode. The Apples originally did just that: selling Zap-Apple Jam from their roadside stand. They contracted with Stinkin’ Rich because they needed better marketing. Oh yes the Apples were certainly dumb to give up any control of their own product, but it’s not too much of a stretch to see why they thought they needed to.

So Diamond Tiara’s father got rich off the labor of Apple Bloom’s family. No wonder Diamond Tiara makes fun of Apple Bloom. Her family was too stupid to sell their own product and keep all the profit. Instead, they’re poor and at risk of losing the farm if they don’t sell enough cider every year.
