The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Background Pony #FD3F @Zincy Technically speaking, the modern-day American Santa Claus has a lot of origins: Principally the Roman Catholic Saint Nicholas of Myra, who is still celebrated on December 6th in Roman Catholic countries, while also taking on different traits and aspects of different winter and European gods; the whole “leaving stockings on the fireplace for Santa Claus” is actually based on a Pagan Norse tradition where children would leave their socks by the fireplace on the Winter Solstice filled with hay; if Odin happened to pass by, he’d take the hay for his horse Sleipnir and give some kind of gift in return. (Of course, there’s a similar tradition with Saint Nicholas; if you leave your shoes outside by the door on the night of December 5th, if he passes by he’ll leave a little gift of nuts, candy and a small toy if you’ve been good.)

It’s actually rather interesting what all went into creating the American Santa Claus. Definitely a lot more than what people think.

How do you feel about Odin being Santa?
It makes more sense than it should forcing his defeated foes from Elfenheim into making toys.
